First, I know Tavarish’s articles are meant for entertainment, and this is not real buying advice. Agreed. Fast cars mean disaster usually, even as a VAG person I could never buy my kid an S4 as his/her first car. That's just dumb, after living with a less powerful car for a couple years and having no tickets or accidents then maybe. Otherwise, that's just a good way to get your kid in trouble. Or worse.

Yep. I was allowed to have/drive my dads old 318ti as my first car and I think it was just about as perfect as you could get. Not enough power to get in any real trouble but just enough for a teenager not to get too bored especially in the snow with RWD.

Generally this may be true, but there are exceptions. I got my ‘02 Trans Am as a first car, and one of my friends had a Dart with a 410, neither of us wrecked or ever got tickets. I think it’s up to parents to judge there kids’ maturity.

The year after I graduated there was a Sophomore that was parking his (yes, the car his parents bought for him) Viper GTS on the street. Only Juniors or Seniors could park in the lot. I wonder to this day if that car survived.
