First, I know Tavarish’s articles are meant for entertainment, and this is not real buying advice. With that being said, it is not easy to make my choice in first cars look responsible. !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! makes my car look like a Volvo V70 wrapped in bubble wrap. You be a !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! , even if they did mow lawns to pay for it. Unless you would really rather not have said kid anymore.

But of course, this is supposed to generate views, and we all know that the only thing that generates more views that a clickbait title is a highly controversial statement.

Agreed. Fast cars mean disaster usually, even as a VAG person I could never buy my kid an S4 as his/her first car. That's just dumb, after living with a less powerful car for a couple years and having no tickets or accidents then maybe. Otherwise, that's just a good way to get your kid in trouble. Or worse.

A lot of cars on that list aren’t smart, but the Corvette is on a new level.

Yep. I was allowed to have/drive my dads old 318ti as my first car and I think it was just about as perfect as you could get. Not enough power to get in any real trouble but just enough for a teenager not to get too bored especially in the snow with RWD.

What kind of “first-time driver” has/gets a $25,000 budget? That is garbage.
(meaning I agree with you)

I mean, 10 months in a 160 horsepower, 5,000lb deathtrap is enough to certify me for a 240 horsepower, 3200lb sports sedan, right?

Generally this may be true, but there are exceptions. I got my ‘02 Trans Am as a first car, and one of my friends had a Dart with a 410, neither of us wrecked or ever got tickets. I think it’s up to parents to judge there kids’ maturity.

The year after I graduated there was a Sophomore that was parking his (yes, the car his parents bought for him) Viper GTS on the street. Only Juniors or Seniors could park in the lot. I wonder to this day if that car survived.
